Leicester City have double-header for starters

Saturday, July 11, 2009, 08:00

Leicester City kick-off their pre-season with a double-header today. Manager Nigel Pearson has selected two first-team squads for games at Loughborough Dynamo (noon) and Tamworth (3pm).

All the new signings, apart from Richie Wellens, who is a week behind City's training schedule, will feature. Aleksandar Tunchev and Matty Fryatt are also omitted, but all three will be flying out to City's camp in Slovenia tomorrow.

Pearson said: "Basically, these games are training sessions in this stage of the build-up, to give the players some on-field action.

"In fact, some players will play a part in both games."

Joe Mattock, Wayne Brown, Astrit Ajdarevic, Dany N'Guessan and Paul Dickov will feature at Dynamo. Conrad Logan and Academy player Robert Ambrusics are the goalkeepers.

The Tamworth squad has more a first-team feel to it, with Jack Hobbs, Steve Howard, Andy King and Matt Oakley included. New signings Chris Weale and Robbie Neilson will also be on show.

After today's run-outs, City will be back in action on Tuesday, July 21, when they travel to Mansfield Town.
