Leicester City under-18s still unbeaten
The young Foxes remain six points clear of Spurs at the top of the Academy Premier League Group B table with just nine games left.
The next of those games takes place this weekend on the south coast as City face a Portsmouth side that are rooted to the foot of the Group A table with only three wins from 19 matches.
Steve Beaglehole’s team will fancy their chances of continuing their excellent form after a precious point in North London.
City started with Ollie Norburn at right-back while Liam Moore continued to fill in for Tom Parkes at centre-back with the captain remaining out on loan at Burton Albion for the rest of the season.
Robbie Burns was drafted into the midfield to cover for the injured Jeffrey Schlupp and it was Burns who struck the opening goal against Tottenham inside the first half hour following a headed assist from Adi Yussuf.
At half time, Spurs coach Alex Inglethorpe brought on right-winger Jesse Waller-Larsen who had caused City problems in the home fixture, but instead it was Tom Carroll who scored the equaliser and neither side could force a winner.
Some followers of opposition sides at Belvoir Drive this season have attributed City’s fine season to Beaglehole’s ability to call on his entire squad, but this is no longer true with the likes of Parkes, Craig King and Luke O’Neill all out on loan in the lower leagues and Schlupp unavailable through injury.
As the first team continue their assault on the Championship play-off places, the next generation are also on a quest for glory.
