Leicester City's winning mentality delights Nigel Peason

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson has said he would not swap his squad for any other in the Championship.

Pearson was delighted with the way his side bounced back from defeats at Preston and Newcastle to claim their third consecutive home win of the season against Blackpool.

A double from Matty Fryatt gave City their first win over the Seasiders for 43 years and means City are now unbeaten at the Walkers Stadium for a whole year.

"I have said to the players that the squad we have here I am happy to have," he said. "I compare that to a lot of the teams at this level. At Newcastle they had a very good team on the night but I wouldn't necessarily swap the squads.

"The challenge for me this year is to make sure we have a squad ethic and we stick to that. That is what is going to get us success if we have it.

"We have had a good response after two tough defeats on the road and now it is back to the plan. It is about making sure you do everything you can to win every game."

City were not at their most fluent against Blackpool, but they did enough in the second half to claim the points and Pearson said it was important to grind out the victories when they were not at their best.

"It was a potential banana skin for us," he said. "They have had an unbeaten start to the season, although they have drawn a few, so it was a good win.

"It was tough, as are any games in this league, and it reinforced the fact we have made a decent start.

"In terms of the game itself, the first half was relatively tight. We went ahead through a piece of what was very clever play.

"We are not entirely happy with their equaliser, but it happens.

"I think we were worthy winners but it was a tough game.

"So far our home form has been good in terms of results.

"Yes, we would like to play better, there is no doubt about that, but you have to make sure that when you are not absolutely at your best that you are still winning games. I think this was a case in point.

"I thought in the second half we were more fluent and we looked the side that was going to win the game.

"Unless we shot ourselves in the foot, I didn't think we looked like we would be beaten."
