Long wait over but Leicester City goalkeeper Conrad Logan is frustrated

Monday, March 08, 2010, 08:00

Substitute goalkeeper Conrad Logan was a frustrated figure as Leicester City slumped to defeat at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The 23-year-old from County Donegal was called into the action just after the half-hour mark when first-choice keeper Chris Weale suffered a nose injury following a collision with Wednesday striker Marcus Tudgay.

Logan said: "I had nothing to do and we ended up losing 2-0. The dressing room was not a very happy place."

It was Logan's first competitive action for City since a 4-1 home defeat to Wolves on May 6, 2007, and he has spent the past two seasons on loan at Stockport and Luton.

"When the No.1 is doing well you just have to grab the opportunity when it comes, so it's no good sulking and moping around," said Logan.

"You have to be ready and I went on after half an hour because Chris clipped the top of his nose and they could not stem the bleeding. He needed five or stitches in the wound.

"I don't know how he will be for Saturday's game with Cardiff, but I'll just keep preparing for games as I always do and we'll see what happens."

Logan expects City to bounce back from the damaging loss in south Yorkshire, but believes the form of his opposite number, Lee Grant, was critical in determining the outcome of the game.

"He made a couple of really good saves at very important times," said Logan.

"I'm sure when Waggy (Martyn Waghorn) hit the first one he thought it was in but the keeper did well and made a great stop. He also did well in the second half too.

"Wednesday are fighting for their lives in the Championship and, after losing 5-0 last week, they wanted to show what they have got. They came out of the blocks and got the upper hand with the early goal.

"We've bounced back from these sort of setbacks before and I'm sure we will do it again.

"The squad have done well and there's no reason why we can't keep it going ."
