On-loan Leicester City striker DJ Campbell wants to stay at Blackpool

DJ Campbell has revealed he would love to stay at Blackpool when his loan from Leicester City finishes at the end of the season.

Campbell has never hidden his desire to join the Seasiders permanently from City, where he admits he sees no immediate future, and he has again stated his desire to have the move made permanent this summer.

"I would definitely stay here permanently, 100 per cent," said the 28-year-old. "I know it's only a loan until the end of the season, but fingers crossed. You never know what might happen in the summer.

"We've tried to get it done in the past but, for whatever reason, it has not happened. Hopefully this time it will.

"I just love playing football and I'm so happy to be here.

"When a footballer is happy at a club, it makes things so much easier and I'm so pleased to be back. This Blackpool team is playing much better than the one I was playing in last season. The lads have stepped up another level from where they were – obviously the gaffer and Steve Thompson have pushed them even further.

"It's good to be a part of it and I'm just looking forward to what the rest of the season might bring."

Campbell, who has scored only four times in 38 appearances for City, has struck twice in five appearances since rejoining the Seasiders last month and admits he feels rejuvenated playing under former City manager Ian Holloway.

He said: "He is such a genuine bloke and I like that. His enthusiasm and passion for the game is second to none."

City signed Campbell on a four-year contract in July 2007, from Birmingham for a deal potentially worth £2.1million.
