City's DJ Campbell happy with Blackpool return
The 28-year-old Leicester City striker has rejoined the Championship club for a second loan spell until the end of the season, but has not been allowed to play in the clash between the two sides at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.
Last season, the former Birmingham forward scored nine goals in 20 appearances after being out-of-favour at City.
He said he had patched up his differences with manager Nigel Pearson, but was lined up for an August return to Blackpool only for the deal to fall through.
Instead, he switched to City's East Midlands rivals Derby County, who were not prepared to sign him on a permanent deal.
Campbell admits he "missed the lads" at Blackpool and told the Blackpool Gazette: "I was happy there last season and it's only when I left that I realised how much I missed it.
"I missed the lads and spoke to them near enough every day.
"You do miss things when you go to certain clubs and everything fits.
"You realise it's not always about the bigger clubs or the so-called bigger clubs.
"I'm looking to be happy and appreciated, which I was here, and that's another reason why I've come back."
Campbell said there had been a lot of discussion between City and Blackpool about his future.
He said: "We've been trying to do this since I left and I'm delighted it's happened now.
"I know it's only a loan until the end of the season but, fingers crossed, you never know what might happen in the summer."
Back in June, Blackpool boss Ian Holloway admitted Campbell's wage demands were "too pricey".
He still has one year of his contract left at the Walkers Stadium and City were paying half of Campbell's wages during his first stint on the north-west coast
Campbell added: "There were sticking points that got in the way of me coming here but I'm here now and even though it's only a loan we will just see what happens.
"I'm fit and healthy and I'm raring to go."
