Leicester City Stand Point by David Bevan: Little for fans to cheer
Leicester City fans are a fickle bunch and there was a splendidly predictable over-reaction to this bore draw from supporters.
Some of their rants made for better entertainment than the supposed action on the pitch as two below-par sides cancelled each other out in depressing fashion.
The men in blue shirts looked relatively gigantic in comparison to the diminutive visitors but City failed to take advantage from set-pieces.
In short, this was definitely two points dropped with the main culprit unfortunately being Paul Gallagher following a woeful shot at goal when clean through in the second half.
Andy King's pass to set Gallagher clear was probably the most entertaining part of the evening and deserved a far better finish. Sadly, there was no winning goal for Nigel Pearson's side.
The foremost talking point will obviously be the injury suffered by Matty Fryatt.
It was a difficult event to witness and must have been horrifying for Fryatt to endure.
I think I can safely speak for all City fans in wishing Matty a very speedy recovery and not just because of his importance to the team.
Hopefully, we will see the No.12 shirt back on the Walkers Stadium turf sooner rather than later.
In the meantime, a misfiring City side will have to find goals from somewhere to maintain the play-off push.
In the current 4-3-3 formation, Fryatt's persistent running into the channels and fine close control is vital.
Martyn Waghorn is an exciting young talent who may in time surpass Fryatt as a striker, but inviting him to play as a lone central striker in this league at the current time is a tough ask.
There are some City fans who will understandably wish DJ Campbell was still involved in the set-up to provide strength in depth up front, although the reaction to Campbell is a bit like Marmite among some of the Blue Army.
Love him or hate him, he does provide pace and he has scored goals at this level for other clubs.
Pearson appears to have settled for doing without Campbell and that decision will be put firmly to the test while we attempt to replace Fryatt. Fingers crossed that it is not for too long.
