Two out as Leicester City seal deal for Alex Bruce

Strikers DJ Campbell and Paul Dickov last night headed out of the Walkers Stadium, but Leicester City made just one signing on transfer deadline day.

As revealed by the Leicester Mercury yesterday, defender Alex Bruce completed his loan move from Ipswich Town until the end of the season.

However, City manager Nigel Pearson was unable to add any further players to his squad.

Instead, Dickov had his contract cancelled by mutual consent, while Campbell joined Blackpool on loan until the end of the season, although he is not eligible to face City this weekend at Bloomfield Road.

Defender Lathaniel Rowe-Turner was allowed to join Torquay United for an undisclosed fee, while youngsters Billy Kee and Tom Parkes had their loan spells at Accrington Stanley and Burton Albion respectively extended until the end of the season.

Pearson had said he was looking to bring in another loan signing, after ruling out any permanent deals, as well as 25-year-old Bruce.

But he was left frustrated after what was an uneventful final day of the January transfer window.

Bruce joins Peru international midfielder Nolberto Solano as the only new arrivals to come in, although the emergency loan window opens next week.

Campbell looks to have no future at City and was also on loan at Blackpool last season.

He has spent two months on loan at Derby County during the current campaign, and the Rams were also interested in taking the striker on for the rest of the season.

Dickov had spent five months on loan at Pride Park this season but they are unlikely to take the 37-year-old on permanently now he has been released.

Rowe-Turner came through City's youth system and was a member of the academy team that won the FA Premier Youth League Group B title in 2007.

However, the 20-year-old has failed to make a first-team appearance for City and has spent loan spells at Cheltenham Town and King's Lynn.

In contrast, highly-rated Parkes and Kee, whose loan deal at Accrington was completed last week, still have futures at the Walkers Stadium and their moves are designed to give them more first-team experience.

Meanwhile, assistant manager Craig Shakespeare has revealed there are injury concerns over strikers Paul Gallagher and Yann Kermorgant.

Gallagher picked up a calf injury in the 0-0 draw against Newcastle United on Saturday, while Kermorgant has a hamstring problem.

"We were concerned about Paul when he came off, but I expect him to be okay," said Shakespeare.

"I think the effort he has put during the last three games has eventually taken its toll.

"Yann picked up an innocuous hamstring injury in training. We don't expect him to be out too long but Blackpool could be too soon."
