Jack Hobbs hails the morale in Leicester City's camp

Jack Hobbs has said morale in the Leicester City camp is soaring after their victory over Nottingham Forest.

The City defender admitted City were pumped up to avenge their 5-1 defeat by Forest in December when they faced their East Midlands rivals at the Walkers Stadium.

However, the 21-year-old said City must now put the euphoria behind them and retain their focus on the main goal of securing a play-off place.

City travel to relegation battlers Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday for what could be a potential banana skin fixture as the Owls are smarting following their 5-0 defeat at Reading, and Hobbs believes City must not drop their guard.

"I was so pumped up for the Forest game, but as everyone has been saying it is just another game and it is still just three points,'' said Hobbs.

"There was that added edge but we had to control it and not lose our heads, and get over pumped. We were all looking forward to that game because we got beat 5-1 in December and we were determined to put it right, and I think we did.

"To keep a clean sheet was great for the team and us defensively, and to score three was really good.

"We took our chances well, and that was the difference. Bruno Berner's first goal was a good finish because it came at him very quick.

"Paul Gallagher's free kick was superb, and then Andy King poked in the third.

"I think the first goal, and then especially the second, killed them off. They lost their heads after that. There were a few rash tackles going in, but I thought we were very committed and worked very hard.

"To have a six point gap to seventh place is nice but let's try and make it nine or 12, and really cement our position and see where we go from there.

"I take each game as it comes, try to do the right things and I will prepare in the same way as I did for Forest for Sheffield Wednesday. Hopefully, we can maintain our good run."

City reserves face Scunthorpe United in the semi-final of the Totesport Cup at Hinckley United's Greene King Stadium on Tuesday (2pm).
