Yann Kermorgant turns on stylish display for Leicester City Reserves

Trialist Yann Kermorgant impressed during the Foxes reserve side's 4-1 romp over Sheffield United in the Totesport.com at the Walkers Stadium last night.

The 27-year-old, who has been on trail with City since the summer, gave Nigel Pearson more food for thought with an eye-catching display, especially as the Foxes boss is looking to bolster his attack.

Pearson's need has been increased by the injuries to Steve Howard and Martyn Waghorn at Bramall Lane on Tuesday night.

The latest name to be linked with City is Blackburn Rovers striker Paul Gallagher in a speculated loan move, but Kermorgant did himself no harm last night.

The former Stade Reims forward scored the opening goal with a clinical finish after good work by DJ Campbell, and his defence-splitting pass in first-half injury-time teed up Campbell for his second and City's fourth before the striker was withdrawn at half-time.

Kermorgant also showed impressive vision to pick out his team-mates with an array of passing and Levi Porter should have done better after half-time after the Frenchman had dissected the Blades defence again with a flick-on.

Pearson also took the opportunity to take a look at 29-year-old Senegalese left-back Ibrahima Faye.

Faye had been playing in France with League One side Troyes AC.

He has been training with Stoke City recently but he was among the City ranks against a poor Blades side.

Campbell, who has been linked with a move to Blackpool after Seasiders boss Ian Holloway revealed he is in talks with the striker, scored his first in the 32nd minute after superb work from Max Gradel, who was able to wriggle to the by-line before picking out Campbell in the six-yard box.

Tom Parkes had earlier added to Kermorgant's opener when he volleyed home Gradel's corner.

It was not all good news for City because young midfielder Robert Burns had to be helped from the field with a shoulder injury early on and Liban Abdi pulled a goal back for the Blades late on.

City: Cisak, O'Neill, Rowe-Turner, Parkes, Chambers, Burns, Ajdarevic, Gradel, Kermorgant, Campbell. Subs: Sappleton, Ambrusics, Porter (for Campbell half-time), Milnes (for Burns 18), King (for Kermorgant 67)

United: Haber, Brown, Roe, Hendrie, Fortune, James, Abdi, Fotherington, Foster, Carole, Carney. Subs: Admadi (for Carole 78), Billard, Maguire (for Fortune 62), Chappell, Williams (for Foster 58).
