Leicester City on a high for long trip to Plymouth Argyle
Buoyant City, who are unbeaten in their last five outings, are planning to avoid a lengthy motorway journey to Home Park by chartering a flight to Devon.
However, weather forecasts have forced them to draw up alternate plans as a precaution.
Pearson said his players are brimming with confidence after a week that has seen City record their biggest-ever win at the Walkers Stadium and then grab an added-time equaliser at Bristol City.
"The mood in the camp is very positive," he said. "We are playing well and the players have an air of confidence about them. We have been fairly consistent all season and it would be nice to push on a bit now.
"There have been a lot of changes this season. We have eight players out on loan and six players have left. There has been a big turnaround of players during the campaign.
"The squad is developing really, so in that respect the season has gone pretty well so far, and I am pleased with the way they are performing."
Pearson said booking a flight to Plymouth was designed to ease the travelling burden on his squad. After the 260-mile round trip to Bristol, they potentially face a 500-mile visit to Home Park before a 160-mile round trip to face Doncaster on Tuesday.
"The main reason for looking at flying is because it is the best preparation," Pearson said. "That is always the approach we take – what gives us the best chance.
"There are no guarantees that just because you fly down that you are going to get the result you want, but you have to try to approach things in the way that gives us the best chance and the best preparation.
"The long coach journeys can take a bit out of players. But because we had a long trip in midweek and now this one, and then we are away at Doncaster, I think it is important to try to freshen it up as well.''
Meanwhile, City youngster Luke O'Neill has joined Tranmere on loan. The 18-year-old defender has joined Rovers on a one-month loan deal.
Rovers manager Les Parry said: "I'm pleased to have been able to bring Luke in on loan.
"He is a talented young defender who has a bright future ahead of him.
"I'd like to thank Nigel Pearson for allowing Luke to join us for a month."
O'Neill is set to make his Rovers debut against Leyton Orient on Saturday.
