Martyn Waghorn made an instant impact to the start of his loan move from home-town club Sunderland.
The stocky striker announced his arrival at the Walkers Stadium by reviving the side’s fortunes after a difficult start to their Championship opener against Swansea back in August.
He scored a second-half leveller before Dany N’Guessan ensured City made a winning start to their first game back in the second tier.
Waghorn also notched a spectacular equaliser at Coventry in October as he proved his worth as an impact player for the club he is due to stay with until January.
He is certainly having a happier spell than a previous loan stay at Charlton which saw the Addicks relegated to League One at the end of last season.
But “Waggy’s” overall aim remains being a hit at Sunderland – the club he joined as an eight-year-old – and he will gain valuable experience with Nigel Pearson’s side.
