Andy King relishes Leicester City's showdown at Newcastle
The Welsh under-21 international looks unlikely to start but has featured off the bench in City's first four league games.
And King said getting game-time against the Magpies would seal a remarkable 12 months in his own development after breaking through to become a virtual ever-present in the League One title-winning side last season.
King said: "You would not have thought in a thousand years we'd be facing some of the players Newcastle have there. This is a game that everyone wants to play in.
"It's a world-class stadium with a real buzz about the place and we're all looking forward to it."
He believes Newcastle have a great chance of making it back into the top flight. They dropped out of the Premier League after 16 years and had a poor pre-season. But King said: "They are looking to be back where they belong and I wouldn't put it past them to go up first time."
King, however, is expecting City to put on a good showing in front of the Sky cameras.
"We've got real quality too and we will go up there believing we can win the game. We're in this division by right," he said.
"We've got good players who work hard for each other with a strong squad ethic and that is only going to help us overcome a lot of teams. Three points at Newcastle would be great and then we can really push on."
King seems unlikely to unsettle the central midfield partnership of Matt Oakley and Richie Wellens, but he remains firmly in manager Nigel Pearson's plans and started in last week's Carling Cup second-round defeat at Preston.
He said: "The Preston game was a good marker for us coming into the Championship.
"They have been in the top six for the past couple of seasons. It could have swung either way and for that to happen against a top-six side bodes well."
City are on eight points after two wins and two draws and King added: "You look at the fixtures so far and we've played the bigger clubs (Sheff Utd, Preston and Ipswich) and done well."
