Ian Holloway glad to see Blue Army back on the march

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has expressed his delight at seeing Leicester City riding high in the Championship, particularly for the supporters.

Former City boss Holloway is plotting to put a spanner in the works of City's quest for the play-offs this afternoon when his side face Nigel Pearson's men at Bloomfield Road.

Despite being sacked after leading City into the third tier of English football for the first time in the club's history, Holloway bears City no ill will and admitted he has a particular high regard for the City fans.

"I am very proud of this Blackpool team, my team. I wasn't at Leicester long enough to be proud of that team," said Holloway.

"But I am pleased that Nigel Pearson has got them going. I didn't like to see 30,000 fans not getting what they deserve. Their supporters never had a go at me, they were different class.

"I'm just very proud of the club I've got now, that is all that matters to me. Hopefully we can produce the same performance as we did against West Brom, but get the right result this time."

Before the midweek visit of the Baggies, Holloway had said the home games against Albion and City were key in his side's own challenge for the play-offs. However, despite falling to a late winner against Albion, Holloway said his side are still strong contenders.

"I know I said the West Brom and Leicester games were crucial, but just because we've lost the first game that hasn't changed," he said.

"It's made me realise we are a better side than I thought we were – and that's what I am very pleased about. Sometimes you don't always get what you want, or what you deserve. After the match I felt like I'd been punched around a little bit, because we played so well but didn't get what we should have."

Striker Brett Ormerod will serve the second instalment of a three-match suspension, while defender Danny Coid will miss out with a hamstring injury.

On-loan Leicester striker DJ Campbell is ineligible to face his parent club.
