Leicester City may consider loan moves because of injuries

Nigel Pearson will assess the severity of the injuries to midfielders Andy King and Matt Oakley before deciding whether he needs to bolster his Leicester City squad.

King was taken off in the 2-1 defeat against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday with a suspected broken arm after a heavy fall.

That happened just five minutes after captain Oakley limped off with a groin strain.

The injuries coincided with West Brom's two goals that gave them a healthy advantage at the break as City struggled to regain their shape, and manager Pearson believes it was a significant factor in the outcome of the game.

However, the injuries may have a longer-lasting impact on City's fortunes. Even if Oakley recovers during the international break, he picked up his fifth booking of the season and will be suspended for the visit of Plymouth Argyle in two weeks time.

Pearson said: "I think it was a relatively tight game. But just before we conceded the goals we probably had our best spell. It was a crucial period during the game where, unfortunately, we picked up two injuries and conceded two goals.

"You can't do anything about injuries in games. Of the two we picked up, they were tackles and awkward falls.

"That is why you talk about a squad ethic and why it is important. One player's misfortune is another's opportunity. That is how we see it.

"I don't often moan about misfortune in games, we all have to deal with it. It happens and you get on with it.

"Whether I try to get a player in, it will depend. We will have to see how things go over the next few weeks.

"This group of players are excellent and they have done well, they were just beaten by a side that, on the day, was better than us."
