Martyn Waghorn ready to fire Leicester City striker to glory against Cardiff
Waghorn believes victory over their Championship play-off rivals at the Walkers Stadium will enhance City's promotion credentials.
Cardiff remain two points behind City following Tuesday night's 2-0 defeat at Ipswich and, with City also due to head to South Wales on Tuesday, March 30, Waghorn believes the two games could be crucial for either side's promotion aspirations.
The 20-year-old, who is on loan from Premier League club Sunderland until the end of the season, also has one eye on City's trip to West Bromwich Albion on Good Friday.
"We have played quite a few hard teams during our recent good run and, if we can get a few points off Cardiff this week and then West Brom, we could be in a good position," said Waghorn.
"If we can get a few points off Cardiff in both games then it is going to be massive. It can only aid our promotion push.
"We have got some winnable games coming up, like at Peterborough and Derby, so if we do well we can have a good, strong finish to the season.
"I looked at the fixtures a few days ago and we have a decent run, but if we can get points off Cardiff then we will be in with a decent chance.
"If we keep playing the way we had been playing, I think we can beat any side in this division on our day.
"It will be a challenge, as every team is in this division, but we will be ready for it."
Waghorn admits he has thoroughly enjoyed his first full campaign in first-team football and said the season had raced by.
Now he is looking forward to an exciting finale and said: "The season has flown by.
"It doesn't seem five minutes since I signed here, and then I had the loan extended until the end of the season.
"There is only 12 games left until the end of the campaign and I think it will be a good end of the season for the team.
"We have to keep going, keep our heads down and not worry about the teams around us too much because everyone is going to have off-days every now and then.
"But if we keep picking up points and others slip up, we will see how high we can finish."
