Nigel Pearson keeps Leicester City's Dany N'Guessan guessing

Dany N'Guessan's terrific showing for Leicester City against QPR may not be enough to earn him a regular starting spot.

The Frenchman was a surprise call-up for last Friday's 2-1 win at Loftus Road after spending the last month on the bench.

The former Glasgow Rangers and Auxerre player responded with a tremendous show of power and pace that helped to unlock the door as City temporarily moved into the top two of the Championship.

But although City manager Nigel Pearson says N'Guessan is a player with the ability to change games, it seems likely that the winger will continue to be part of the squad rather than a regular first-choice.

Pearson said: "Dany did well, but you have got to remember he has taken a big step and he will be used when we think it is appropriate. It's a jump in level for him, but you can see he is a player who has the ability to change games and I thought he was excellent. It was another ticked box."

N'Guessan, who joined City in the summer from League Two Lincoln, gave QPR full-back Peter Ramage a torrid time, winning the physical battle to put City on the attack in the best away performance by the side so far this season.

He also provided the cross for Matty Fryatt's opening goal – a delivery reminiscent of the one which Martyn Waghorn scored from in the opening-day win against Swansea.

N'Guessan was preferred to Paul Gallagher after being out of the starting 11 since City lost against Preston at the Walkers Stadium on September 26.

N'Guessan has admitted that he is still learning his trade.

He said: "I try to do my best but in some games I try very hard and it is just not my day. But I have come up from League Two and I am working hard.

"Like every player, it is disappointing when you are not playing but you have to look hard at your game and work on improving things."

N'Guessan is now hoping to feature in against West Brom at the Walkers on Saturday.
