On-loan Ryan McGivern hopes to make Leicester City debut
The 19-year-old defender completed a loan move from Manchester City on Saturday.
He has joined Nigel Pearson's men until January and will provide competition for Bruno Berner's left-back berth following the sale of Joe Mattock to West Brom.
McGivern has been on City's radar for sometime because he plays for Northern Ireland under-21s, who are managed by City youth-team coach Steve Beaglehole, and was linked with a move in July.
Beaglehole called McGivern into the Northern Ireland under-21 squad for a mini tournament in Ukraine in August last year, and Nigel Worthington promoted McGivern into the full Northern Ireland squadshortly afterwards.
McGivern, a product of Manchester City's youth academy, has now made six senior starts for his country. Last season he was loaned to Morecambe. However, he has found his first-team opportunities limited at Manchester City after the arrival of Brazilian Sylvinho to compete with Wayne Bridge and Spaniard Javier Garrido for the left-back spot.
A move to City will provide him with much-needed senior football.
City manager Nigel Pearson "We are delighted to secure the services of Ryan until January.
"He is player we have been monitoring for a while. Ryan is an exciting prospect and will be a useful addition to our squad."
Tonight's clash (7.45) is live on Sky TV and will give Pearson's men a chance to shine on the big stage.
