Nigel Pearson says Leicester City deserved equaliser at Bristol City
City looked to be heading towards defeat when David Clarkson fired the Robins in front in the first minute of added-time after a pulsating Championship contest.
However, Bristol had conceded 12 goals in the final 10 minutes this season and Lloyd Dyer popped up with a superb equaliser less than 60 seconds later to force a 1-1 draw.
"I thought we played well and I think it would have been a travesty had we had come away without something tonight," said Pearson.
"To get a late equaliser is satisfying but, of course, it was disappointing to concede the goal as well.
"We created a lot of chances and I don't think anyone could have had any complaints had we been two or three goals to the good at half-time, but that is the difference.
"We might have got out of jail a bit but we felt there was a push on Richie Wellens leading up to their goal, so I suppose there is a bit of justice there.
"Even after we scored, I thought we created another chance or two to win it."
Pearson said he could not explain why his side could hammer Scunthorpe United 5-1 at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday but then struggle to convert their chances at Ashton Gate.
"I don't know why," he said. "The important thing is that we have quality in the side and have looked dangerous all night.
"What I am pleased about is that we continue to create chances, although the flip side is that we are occasionally going to leave ourselves open to the counter-attack.
"I believe the formation gives us the best chance to win games at this moment and I think it suits the players we have in the squad.
"That is not to say we won't be afraid to change it and it will be a case of what is appropriate at any given time."
