Hoos happy with City's activity in transfer window
City manager Nigel Pearson had said he was hopeful of bringing in at least two loan transfers before the window shut on Monday, but only defender Alex Bruce arrived on loan from Ipswich Town on transfer deadline day.
However, Hoos pointed out that City had already recruited Ryan McGivern, Yann Kermorgant and Nolberto Solano since the close of the last transfer window in August, and added: "People might say we haven't brought people in but I would say we have.
"Don't forget it isn't just about this transfer window, we actually brought in four players since the close of the last transfer window.
"We have secured Ryan, originally on a temporary loan and now until the end of the season, Yann, because he was on a free transfer, and now Nobby recently and Bruce on transfer deadline day.
"I have to say, four players since the close of the last transfer window is building the squad.
"On the face of it, a couple of players out and one in doesn't look that busy, but I was very busy all day.
"It is just about doing the right thing for the club.
"We are relatively happy with the business we have done and, don't forget, we have the emergency loan window which opens again in a week if we have a problem.
"If I was a fan I don't think I would be too disgruntled. We are sat here two points off the play-offs, the team is performing well and we have added a couple of players to that team.
"If we have problems, there is the emergency loan."
There may not have been too many players coming in but there were plenty going out, and that certainly kept Hoos busy.
Paul Dickov was released, Lathaniel Rowe-Turner joined Torquay, DJ Campbell joined Blackpool on loan, and the loans of Tom Parkes at Burton and Billy Kee at Accrington were extended.
"It is frustrating in terms of the time restraints," said Hoos.
"This window has been dead all the way up to Sunday. There are the deals you don't do as well but, on Sunday, and especially on Monday, it went crazy.
"From being at a stage where no-one has an interest in anybody, you can get phone-call after phone-call on the day itself."
