Fans call on Leicester City to sign a new striker
Top scorer Fryatt is a doubt to play again this season after fracturing his jaw in two places against Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday night, and representatives of City supporters' groups believe manager Nigel Pearson must be allowed to bring in another striker now the emergency loan window has opened.
"I would like to see Pearson bring in a striker now," said Cliff Ginnetta, chairman of the Leicester City Supporters Club.
"I don't think he will bring DJ Campbell back from Blackpool because the player will not be keen on returning now he has got the move he wanted. We can't rely on Martyn Waghorn alone and he looks like he is not fully fit at the moment, so I think Pearson has no choice.
"The newspapers say there are plenty of options about and I know James Vaughan at Everton and Freddie Sears at West Ham United are players who have been linked with loan moves elsewhere.
"Who we get in will depend a lot on cost but City can't run until the end of the season with one striker short, because the goals have not been coming lately.
"The supporters will miss Matty. It is a shame for the lad and his family."
Matt Davis, spokesman for the Foxes Trust, said there was not another striker currently at the club that could score as many goals as Fryatt.
"The statistics speak for themselves, that Matty scores most goals," he said.
"I know he hasn't scored many recently but over the course of a season he is the one who gets the goals.
"We haven't got a striker with a strike-rate like Matty's at the club so I think Pearson will try to get a striker in. However, it will all depend on whether there are funds available. If there are funds then let's get a striker in.
"If not, then I would go with Steve Howard and one other in attack as I am a 4-4-2 man, but I am not sure we haven't been found out now, using that system."
