RIP Bobby Smith

​I woke this morning to the sad news that former Leicester City captain Bobby Smith had passed away.

I never met the man or saw him play during his career, but I was genuinely sad because he was so young and his illness had come on so quickly. I also understand that he faced his death with real dignity.

I spoke to Alan Birchenall this morning to get his thoughts and the Birch was very down.

Unfortunately, lately I have spoken to Alan on a few occasions after sad news about former players.

Life goes on and former players will inevitably pass on.

However, I hope City always take the time to stop and pay tribute to good former servants like Smith.

I know they will probably mark his passing on Saturday when Forest visit the Walkers, and I am sure it will be a rousing send-off for a colourful character.
