Leicester City may stick with three-man attack against Scunthorpe
Apart from Tuesday night's frustrating goalless draw against Doncaster Rovers, in which Fryatt broke his jaw, City have looked a more potent attacking force with their three-pronged forward line.
Fryatt was the focal point of that formation against Newcastle and at Blackpool last weekend, but Pearson said his injury may not force a re-think and will provide an opportunity for another member of his squad.
Martyn Waghorn or the fit-again Yann Kermorgant are now set to step in as a straight replacement, but whatever formation City choose for the visit of the Iron today, Pearson has warned his side they will have to be distinctly better than they were on Tuesday night.
"We won't necessarily change our approach from the last few games," said the City boss.
"We did some work on Thursday morning and we will again before the Scunthorpe game.
"It worked pretty well in the two games before Doncaster. That wasn't a good game at all on Tuesday.
"They were a side that came here with a football reputation but they looked like a side that had just suffered successive defeats. They came with a game-plan to make it as difficult as possible for us, but we have to be better than we were the other night.
"Whatever the opposition throw at us, we have to be able to do something about it. On Tuesday we weren't good enough on the night, it's as simple as that. But we didn't look like getting beaten either.
"It wasn't a pretty spectacle and I know that the public were not too enamoured with it, but that is how football is sometimes.
"We just have to make sure we do everything we can to win the next one."
Pearson believes Scunthorpe may adopt similar tactics to Rovers today, and believes Nigel Adkins' men will provide another stern test.
Scunthorpe denied City a victory earlier in the season with a last-minute equaliser at Glanford Park and Pearson is expecting them to be just as resilient at the Walkers Stadium.
"They could try to adopt the same approach as Rovers but, if they do, we have to find the answers this time," said Pearson.
"In the game at their place we should have won and they scored a late equaliser. But they are a side that have a lot of self-belief and they are never an easy side to play against.
"Nigel has done an excellent job there and it will be another tough game for us.
"All we can affect is ourselves and we have to make sure we do things a bit better."
